MANILA, Philippines — Sophia Laforteza is set to resume group activities with Katseye in the first week of January 2027, Hybe x Geffen announced, as the Filipino singer continues to prioritize her health and well-being following a temporary hiatus.
In a notice shared with fans, the group's management confirmed that Laforteza would not participate in the remaining North American dates of Katseye’s “The Wildworld Tour," including promotional activities for the rest of 2026.
“Sophia has been prioritizing her health and well-being with our full support and resources. We look forward to welcoming her back as Katseye continues this next chapter together in 2027,” the statement read.
The company also thanked the group's fans, known as Eyekons, for their continued support and understanding, saying it looked forward to celebrating Laforteza's return with them in the new year.
The Filipina member also addressed fans in a statement posted on her Instagram Stories, expressing gratitude for their patience and encouragement as she continues working toward her recovery.
“Your kindness during this time has given me more strength than you know. It hasn't been easy, but I have been putting in the work by receiving the care I need, learning the tools to better support myself, and doing everything I can to nurture my well-being,” she wrote.
The singer said the experience had taught her more about herself and the importance of caring for her mental and physical health.
“Learning to care for myself, and continuing to do that work every day, is something I want to carry with me as I grow both as a person and as an artist,” she said.
Laforteza acknowledged that missing the remainder of the tour was painful but said she would use the time to continue training and focus on her well-being.
“As much as I wish I could simply push through, I've come to understand that sometimes having the courage to take a step back is what allows you to move forward,” she wrote.
She said she hoped to return feeling “happier, healthier, stronger, more grounded” and ready to perform with her bandmates again.
“I can't wait to share the stage with my sisters again and look out to all of you!” she added.
Laforteza announced her temporary hiatus from Katseye on Aug. 7 to focus on her health and well-being with professional guidance.
The group, formed through the reality competition “The Debut: Dream Academy,” consists of Laforteza, Daniela Avanzini, Lara Raj, Megan Skiendiel, Manon Bannerman and Yoonchae Jeung.
