MANILA, Philippines — An unidentified group of around 500 rallyists in about 30 vehicles occupied portions of EDSA and White Plains Avenue early Tuesday, prompting the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) to temporarily close roads and manage traffic in the area.
According to the MMDA, the group marched from EDSA-Corinthian northbound to EDSA-White Plains northbound at around 3:48 a.m. Police were deployed to maintain peace and order, while MMDA personnel managed traffic.
White Plains Avenue, in both eastbound and westbound directions, was temporarily closed to motorists as of 5:15 a.m. due to the ongoing rally.
By 5:40 a.m., the MMDA said the tail end of the procession had reached EDSA-Reliance northbound and EDSA-Kamuning Flyover southbound.
Motorists were advised to expect traffic delays and take alternate routes whenever possible.
