The New York Jets have talent across the roster, but if you’re picking the one non-quarterback they can least afford to see shatter in 2026, it’s Garrett Wilson.
He’s become the heartbeat of the offense.
Wilson has already proven he can produce regardless of who’s throwing him the football. Through quarterback changes, coaching changes and offensive inconsistency, he’s remained the one constant. That’s not easy to do in the NFL, especially when opposing defenses know you’re the primary target.
Yet he keeps finding ways to get open.
Wilson isn’t just an explosive playmaker. He’s the receiver who keeps the entire passing game functioning.
The Jets need that kind of player.
There are plenty of talented receivers around the league, but few mean as much to their offense as Wilson does to New York’s. He has become the player quarterbacks trust when they need a big play, a move after a slow start or a game-changing play in the fourth quarter.
There are other players who deserve recognition. Running back Breece Hall remains one of the NFL’s most dynamic dual-threat backs when healthy. His ability to make defenders miss as both a runner and receiver gives the Jets another option every week.
Then there’s left tackle Olu Fashanu, whose importance continues to grow. Protecting the quarterback’s blind side is one of the toughest jobs in football, and he’s great at it.
Still, Wilson is the player defenses fear.
Take him out of the lineup, and the entire offense changes. Coverages become easier. Massive plays become harder to find. The margin for error gets much smaller.
The Jets have several young building blocks they hope will carry the franchise into the future. Wilson remains the player who ties it all together.
