The New York Yankees need to be watched very closely with the 2026 MLB Trade Deadline just about here.

It is clear that the Yankees are looking to strengthen their roster as they prepare for the playoffs. One of their top needs is another high-impact relief pitcher to help their bullpen.

Now, they are being linked to one of the top trade candidate relief pitchers on the market.

According to MLB insider Francys Romero, the Yankees are among the teams interested in trading for San Diego Padres star relief pitcher Adrian Morejon.

“Adrian Morejon has drawn significant trade interest in recent days, with clubs such as the Yankees, Rays, and Pirates among those closely monitoring the Padres left-hander, per source,” Romero posted on X.

Hearing that the Yankees are interested in acquiring Morejon is not surprising in the slightest. It is clear that their bullpen is in need of a major boost, and acquiring a star relief pitcher like Morejon would provide the Yankees with just that.

Morejon is in the middle of another strong season with the Padres, and the truth can be seen in his stats. In 51 appearances this season with the Padres, he has an 8-3 record to go along with a 3.07 ERA. This was after he had a 13-6 record and a 2.08 ERA with the Padres last season as an All-Star.

It will be interesting to see if the Yankees can end up winning the Morejon sweepstakes from here. If they do, they would only look even better on paper.
