Based on “Avengers: Doomsday” rumors, the upcoming Marvel film, which focuses on the Avengers and other superhero teams battling Doctor Doom and his nefarious plans, could unveil plenty of surprises.

It’s already known that this film features a star-studded cast that brings back familiar faces and introduces new ones into the MCU. Potential spoilers for the movie’s opening scene have already hit, and now a new rumored LEGO set leak could have revealed more about the movie’s plot.

2024 Comic-Con International revealed to the world that Robert Downey Jr. returns in “Avengers: Doomsday,” but not as Tony Stark/Iron Man. Instead, he’ll portray the movie’s main villain, Victor Von Doom, aka Doctor Doom.

Spoilers suggest Doom won’t operate alone in “Doomsday,” as he’ll have powerful backup and assistance from other forces, which could include a villainous team making their MCU debut.

The new rumor arrives due to upcoming LEGO sets that will be part of the merchandise tied to “Avengers: Doomsday.” The expectation is that these sets will be revealed before the end of July.

The Unibricks account leaks a lot of rumors and spoilers online for LEGO, and recently revealed that one of the new “Doomsday” LEGO sets is called “Sentinel Battle.” This will apparently include a replica of a Sentinel, one of the gigantic mutant-hunting robots that Doctor Doom uses to battle the various superhero teams.

This 433-piece set, releasing in October, also features minifigures for Doctor Doom and the superheroes Thor, Mystique, Mister Fantastic, Nightcrawler, and Magneto. None of those characters are really spoilers, as it’s believed from other content that the New Avengers, Fantastic Four, and X-Men could team up to battle Doom and his Sentinels.

However, Unibricks also leaked details of an 846-piece LEGO set 76348 called “The Dark Avengers Quinjet,” including a HYDRA Captain America minifigure. That could indicate a villainous variant of Steve Rogers, potentially portrayed by returning actor Chris Evans, will lead the Dark Avengers in their MCU debut in the “Doomsday” film.

HYDRA Captain America was never a member of the Dark Avengers in comic lore, so this could be an intriguing spin on the villain team in the MCU, or the rumor is inaccurate intel.

The rumor is unconfirmed, and others have mentioned that the LEGO set leak could be the New Avengers’ Quinjet flown by U.S. Agent, a member of the Thunderbolts team that became the New Avengers.

The first “Avengers: Doomsday” trailer has yet to arrive for the masses, but it’s believed that could happen in conjunction with this month’s San Diego Comic-Con. Getting a hint or major reveal about the Dark Avengers would be a nice surprise for fans.

The debut of this team could allow Chris Evans and other former MCU actors to lean into their dark sides on the screen. In addition, it would showcase some intriguing scenes and battles between these villains and major superheroes.
