A golden retriever has melted hearts on social media after his owner revealed the one thing he does every morning before breakfast, and it has left internet users obsessed.

In a viral TikTok video shared on Wednesday under the username @whaler.and.flapjack, the pup can be seen having the best time of his life swimming in a lake right outside his home, holding a big stick in his mouth while soaking in the morning breeze.

“My dog enjoying a morning swim outside his front door while his personal butler (mom) prepares his breakfast,” the caption says. “I think he likes his little life.”

Most canines love water, and, while the majority of them is born with innate swimming skills, others may need a little help learning how to do it.

Experts at Pet MD say swimming is a great form of exercise for our pups, which strengthens muscles and improves cardiovascular health, and can also be a great bonding experience. All dogs can learn how to swim, including puppies and seniors.

Canines should be introduced to water gradually, so that they feel safe and comfortable. It is best to start in shallow waters and use positive reinforcement to build confidence.

Swimming sessions should always be supervised, even when pups are confident swimmers, and it is important that any time, a dog is near the water, they wear a life jacket as an extra layer of safety.

Some breeds, including Labrador retrievers, Portuguese water dogs, and Newfoundlands, among others, are well known for their aquatic skills. However, even with breeds known for their love of water, this truly depends on the dog’s own personality

Not all canines enjoy swimming, and if your dog show aversion to water, it is important that you respect their wishes and don’t force them in.

The video quickly went viral on social media and it has so far received over 225,000 views and more than 39,000 likes on the platform.

One user, Holly, commented: “Me trying to hide this from my golden so we don’t have to move.”

Matt said: “I would do anything for this life for my puppy boy.”

Michelle Wise added: “You’re living my dream!”
