A man’s attempt to motivate his dog to go for a run has gone hilariously wrong—and TikTok can’t stop watching.

The video, shared by @pauliepoo68, has racked up 1.9 million views, showing Daisy, a silver Staffordshire bull terrier, curled up on the couch with her mom when her dad enthusiastically asks if she’d like to go for a run. Instead of excitement, Daisy’s response is immediate and unmistakable: she tries to burrow deeper into her owner for protection.

“Coming for a run? Who’s coming running? We’re not gonna mess around. We’re gonna run fast. We’re going for the PB,” the man says in the clip, referring to a personal best. “Which one of my girls is coming running with me?”

As Daisy presses herself tighter against the couch, he adds, somewhat optimistically, “Oh… are you sure?”

Viewers were quick to relate—and to defend Daisy’s right to stay put.

“Built for snuggles, not struggles!” Malcolm wrote.

“That is adorable! No dad, I wanna potato couch with mum,” another user commented.

“Me avoiding my couch to 5k app notifications,” joked Beth.

Others were amused simply because most dogs usually leap at the chance to go outside. “I’ve never seen a dog deny going outside,” one viewer wrote.

Some commenters, however, used the moment to raise a more serious point about canine fitness—particularly for stocky, muscular breeds like Staffordshire bull terriers.

“In all seriousness dogs are not meant for running,” one user cautioned.

“She’s built for comfort, not for speed,” added another.

Veterinarians generally agree that while many dogs enjoy regular exercise, not all breeds are suited for long‑distance or high‑intensity running. Breeds with shorter muzzles and heavier builds can overheat more easily and may struggle with sustained cardio workouts, especially at a human’s pace. Experts often recommend activities like short walks, play sessions, or scent‑based games instead, along with gradually building endurance if a dog does join occasional runs.

For TikTok, though, Daisy’s priorities were clear.

“You leave that potato alone,” one commenter pleaded.

“Listen, I’m for the sheets not the streets, dad,” another quipped.

Judging by the clip, Daisy seems perfectly content with her life philosophy—and millions of viewers appear to agree.
