Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James is looking to add yet another impressive milestone to his career as his team looks for a third-straight win.
Although they stumbled with several losses after the NBA All-Star break, they’ve recently defeated Western Conference foes, the Sacramento Kings and Golden State Warriors. Tuesday night brings Zion Williamson and the New Orleans Pelicans to the hardwood as their latest challenge.
While the Lakers have plenty of scoring options available, they’ve recently seen strong offensive contributions from their starting superstars, LeBron and his teammate, Luka Doncic. The latter typically leads the way, although LeBron is on the verge of an impressive offensive record.
According to the NBA, LeBron’s next big achievement could be becoming the all-time leader in career field goals made. He’ll need to make 11 field goals to break the previous record. Lakers great Kareem Abdul-Jabbar holds the record of 15,837 makes across his legendary basketball career.
Just over three years ago, King James broke the league’s all-time scoring record of 33,387, also held by Kareem. Leron hit a fadeaway jumper against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Feb. 3, 2023, to claim the career milestone.
The NBA superstar, now in his 23rd season, also holds other records, including most All-Star appearances with 22, which surpassed Kareem’s previous 19. King James is also the all-time leader in combined minutes across regular-season and playoff appearances.
Along with that, he is fourth all-time in assists, sixth all-time in steals, and second all-time in free throws made behind Karl Malone.
With LeBron playing as many seasons as he has and now at 41, he’s truly shown resilience and durability, unlike most others who played at an elite level in the NBA for a lengthy career.
The field goals made record seems inevitable for King James, and if it doesn’t happen against the Pelicans, it’s likely to happen in the Lakers’ next game against the Denver Nuggets on Thursday.
And while those milestones are great talking points, LeBron will remind everyone he loves the game and is simply trying to get wins for his team and achieve another NBA Championship during his legendary career.
