MANILA, Philippines — Disney+ confirmed it will distribute the upcoming action crime thriller "Code" headlined by Nam Joo-hyuk and Baek Hye-won, the latter better known as Lee E-dam.
The K-drama follows Joo-hyuk's Yun Tae-joo, an ethically bankrupt lawyer at a top firm who receives a mysterious invite for a new mobile app that supposedly grants users' wishes.
"Seemingly too good to be true, the app begins to deliver on its promise but soon after extracts a terrifying price," a synopsis for the show goes.
E-dam, meanwhile, will play ruthless prosecutor Park Ji-dam in the project helmed by "Weak Hero Class" director and writer Yoo Soo-min. Korean actors Kim Eui-sung and Park Hoon are also part of the cast.
Joo-hyuk started out as a model before transitioning to acting, first in AKMU music videos then a supporting role in "The Idle Mermaid."
His first lead project was "Who Are You: School 2015" alongside Kim So-hyun and Sungjae, which led to appearing in "Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo" and "Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-joo," earning praise for the latter.
More series lead roles followed in "The School Nurse Files," "Start-Up," "Twenty-Five Twenty-One," "Vigilante," and most recently "The East Palace," as well as the films "The Great Battle," "Josee," and "Remember."

E-dam is best known for "Black Knight," "Daily Dose of Sunshine," and "The Queen Who Crowns." This year alone, she has appeared in "Can This Love Be Translated?," "The Art of Sarah," and the movie "Pavane."
Eui-sung and Hoon both starred in the films "12:12: The Day," "Golden Slumber," and the show "Memories of the Alhambra" with Eui-sung appearing in "Black Knight" with E-dam.
His other projects include "Taxi Driver," "Train to Busan," "Extreme Job," "Inside Men," "Arthdal Chronicles," "Under the Queen's Umbrella," "Mr. Sunshine," and two "Alienoid" films.
Last year, Eui-sung appeared in "The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call," "Low Life," "Cashero," and US show "The Recruit." A fifth series "Knock-Off" was pulled due to controversies surrounding co-star Kim Soo-hyun.
Hoon, meanwhile, was in the Yi Sun-sin sequels "Hansan: Rising Dragon" and "Noryang: Deadly Sea." He also appeared in "Memories of the Alhambra," with lead Hyun Bin in "Confidential Assignment 2: International" and "Harbin."
On the small screen Hoon appeared in "Bloodhounds," "Descendants of the Sun," "Trigger," "Payback: Money and Power," "Big Mouth," "Nobody Knows," "Haechi," "Six Flying Dragons," plus cameos in "The King: Eternal Monarch," "Designated Survivor: 60 Days," "Tomorrow," and "Nokdu Flower."
