MANILA, Philippines — Liza Soberano and Gabrielle Sarmiento Wilson, more popularly known as H.E.R., are coming back to the Philippines to promote their upcoming movie "Forgotten Island."

They will be joined by the film's directors, Joel Crawford and Januel Mercado, who is part Filipino, as well as producer Mark Swift.

"Forgotten Island" is Dreamworks Animation's upcoming movie inspired by Filipino folklore and mythology, centering around two best friends (voiced by Liza and H.E.R.) who are transported to an island where they risk losing their memories.

Notable Filipinos like Lea Salonga, Dolly de Leon, Filipino-American comedian Jo Koy, "Star Wars" and Filipino-Canadian actor Manny Jacinto, and Filipino-American and "The Pitt" actress Amielynn Abellera are also part of the voice cast. Dave Franco, Jenny Slate, and Ronny Chieng are also part of the animated movie.

The Philippines will be the first international destination of the film's "Tayo Na!," series where special events and screenings will be held, giving locals an opportunity to experience the film alongside the creative team behind it.

Liza, H.E.R., and the three filmmakers will meet with fans on August 25 at 7 p.m. in the SM Mall of Asia Atrium, a month before "Forgotten Island" hits Philippine theaters on September 23.

The event will serve as a homecoming for Liza, as well as a comeback for H.E.R. who is Filipino on her mother's side. Mercado is Filipino-American, while Crawford's wife Kathy and her family are Filipino.

Swift, meanwhile, visited the Philippines several time during development of "Forgotten Island," immersing in the country’s culture as his fellow filmmakers brought its Filipino-inspired world to life.
