Park Jin Young steps down as director at own company JYP Entertainment

Korean singer-producer Park Jin-young also known as JYP, the co-founder of JYP Entertainment.

MANILA, Philippines Singer and record producer Park Jin Young is stepping down as a director at his own company JYP Entertainment to focus on affairs related to the K-pop industry. 

JYP Entertainment, named after the singer-actor’s initials, issued a statement on Tuesday, March 10, announcing this latest development. 

“Park Jin-young will not undergo the reappointment process for internal director at the shareholders’ meeting scheduled for March 26th of this year,” reports on South Korean media cited. 

Park will still be with the company he co-founded as its founder and chief creative officer. 

He co-founded JYP Entertainment in 1997 and served as its internal director from 2011 until March 2026. 

The singer-producer was appointed as the co-chair of South Korea’s Presidential Committee on Popular Culture Exchange last year. 

He made his debut in the South Korean entertainment industry in 1994. After co-founding the entertainment agency, he has signed some of the currently active K-pop groups, including Stray Kids, TWICE, ITZY and 2PM.
