KOTA TINGGI - A group of individuals who attempted to break into a house in Felda Lok Heng Selatan here fled in different directions after being confronted through a closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera's microphone early Monday morning.

The incident, which occurred at about 4.20am, was discovered by the homeowner after receiving a notification from the CCTV system detecting several suspicious individuals on the premises.

In a post that went viral on the Orang Kota Tinggi Facebook page, a woman claimed that her father's unoccupied house had been targeted by the group.

She said the suspects fled before they could commit any crime after they were promptly confronted through the CCTV microphone.

"Thankfully, we received a CCTV notification about their presence early enough and managed to confront them through the CCTV microphone, causing them all to flee in different directions.

"I urge everyone, especially residents in the surrounding area, to remain vigilant and be more aware of their surroundings," she said.

Meanwhile, Kota Tinggi District Police Chief Superintendent Yusof Othman said police had detected a viral video of the incident on social media at about 3pm on Monday.

He said police had also received a report from a local woman who owns the house.

"The case is still under investigation and the public is advised against making any speculation that could be detrimental to any party," he said in a statement.

He said the case was being investigated under Section 453 of the Penal Code for house-trespass offences and Section 511 of the same code for attempted offences.
