TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Research results show the benefits of using supplement products in helping maintain the body's immune system, including in patients with chronic diseases and people with obesity.
HDI Propoelix lead researcher Dr. H. Harli Amir Mahmudji, Sp.PD-KEMD, presented research results at a press conference in Central Jakarta on Saturday (March 7th) on the benefits of using Propoelix supplements for the immune systems of diabetic patients and people with obesity.
"In chronic patients, the immune system remains balanced and the risk of inflammation does not increase," said Harli, regarding the results of a 30-day study conducted on office workers aged 25-60, some of whom were obese and diabetic.
Laboratory tests showed that use of the supplement made acute-phase white blood cells more ready to respond to mild infections, while platelet and neutrophil profiles remained stable, and inflammation indicators did not increase.
According to Harli, this is important for diabetic patients or people with obesity who are prone to complications.
However, he emphasized that the use of supplement products can only help maintain the immune system, not replace standard treatment.
"This is a complement, not a substitute for medical therapy," he said.
Harli stated that his study on the effects of supplement use on immunity is still limited.
"The study lasted only 30 days, and the participants were limited to adult office workers. Long-term effects and use in other groups, such as pregnant women or autoimmune patients, still require further research," he explained.
He explained that the study results, which provide a preliminary picture of immune system modulation in patients with metabolic disorders, could serve as the basis for further studies to assess its effectiveness and safety in a broader population.
The researchers emphasized the importance of further research with a larger number of participants and a longer duration to obtain more comprehensive results.
