TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) overcame Marseille with a 2-1 victory in a Matchday 5 fixture of the 2026/27 French League season at the Stade Vélodrome in Marseille on Monday.
Ferran Torres and Marquinhos scored for PSG, while Marseille pulled one back through Angel Gomes.
Marseille finished the match with 10 men after Timothy Weah was shown a red card in the 77th minute.
The result moved Les Parisiens up to sixth place in the standings with eight points from five matches. PSG remain five points behind league leaders AS Monaco.
Meanwhile, Marseille languish in 17th place with just three points, according to the official Ligue 1 website as cited by Antara.
The first half was a tight affair. Both Marseille and PSG struggled to create clear-cut chances, resulting in a 0-0 scoreline at the break.
The deadlock was finally broken in the 66th minute. Torres, having been on the pitch for only seven minutes, made an immediate impact for PSG.
Coming on for Kvicha Kvaratskhelia, Torres met a cross from Désiré Doué—delivered from the left flank—with a header right in front of goal. The ball found the back of the Marseille net, giving PSG a 1-0 lead.
PSG's lead lasted only six minutes. Marseille equalized in the 72nd minute through Angel Gomes.
The goal stemmed from a Marseille attack through the middle. Amine Gouiri played the ball to Gomes just outside the penalty area.
Gomes navigated his way past surrounding PSG players before unleashing a left-footed shot into the top corner of the net.
PSG regained the lead in the 74th minute through Marquinhos. A long ball from the left flank was delivered into the danger zone, where the Brazilian defender connected with it.
Marquinhos' initial effort was parried by Marseille goalkeeper Jeffrey de Lange, but the defender pounced on the rebound to make it 2-1.
Marseille's situation worsened three minutes later when Timothy Weah received a second yellow card for a foul, forcing him to leave the pitch. Marseille were left playing with 10 men.
PSG tried to capitalize on their numerical advantage to score more goals, but there were no further goals before the final whistle.
PSG secured a 2-1 victory over Marseille.
