TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A new update from pop star Taylor Swift has emerged. It does not relate to her impending wedding plans, but rather her latest track, "I Knew It, I Knew You." After the cryptic "TS" initials were teased across several Disney-Pixar promotional materials a while ago, it has finally been revealed that the track will serve as an original song for the upcoming film Toy Story 5.
Through her official Instagram account, she shared her excitement about recording a song for her all-time favorite animated franchise.
"I’ve always dreamed of getting to write for these characters who I’ve adored since I was a 5 year old kid watching the first Toy Story movie," she wrote on Instagram on June 2, 2026.
"I fell instantly in love with Toy Story 5 when I was lucky enough to see it in its early stages, and I wrote this song as soon as I got home from the screening," she added, offering fans a glimpse into her creative process.
She concluded her social media post by announcing the song's upcoming release date on June 5, 2026, ahead of the theatrical debut of Toy Story 5 on June 19, 2026.
Tech vs. Toys in the New Sequel
The fifth installment of this legendary animated franchise centers around Bonnie, who begins spending more time on her new digital devices, leaving her old toys gradually sidelined.
As reported by People, the mission of Buzz Lightyear, Woody, Jessie, and the rest of the gang is tested as they go head-to-head with Lilypad, a new tablet device equipped with its own disruptive ideas about what is truly best for Bonnie.
In addition to Lilypad, who is voiced by actress Greta Lee, Toy Story 5 is set to introduce several fresh characters to the franchise. Atlas, a GPS-enabled toy hippopotamus, is voiced by comedian Craig Robinson, while Snappy, a camera-based toy, is voiced by Shelby Rabara.
Other characters making their debut include Bonnie (played by Scarlett Spears), Blaze (Mykal-Michelle Harris), and Dr. Nutcase, who is portrayed by Matty Matheson. Comedian Conan O'Brien also joins the ensemble as Smarty Pants, a tech-driven toilet-training toy, according to a report by Deadline.
Most of the franchise's iconic voice actors are reprising their beloved roles for Toy Story 5. Tom Hanks and Tim Allen return to voice Woody and Buzz Lightyear, while Joan Cusack returns as Jessie, John Ratzenberger as Hamm, Wallace Shawn as Rex, and Annie Potts as Bo Peep.
