American and Southwest airlines combined for over 2,000 flight delays nationwide Friday, according FlightAware.

American, the dominant carrier at DFW International Airport, told The Dallas Morning News it was being affected by an outage.

“A vendor issue is affecting some customers’ ability to book and check in for flights,” the airline said in a statement. “We’re working with the technology provider to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. Customers traveling today should plan to arrive at the airport early. We apologize for the inconvenience.”

Just after 2:30 p.m. American sent an updated statement saying the issue had been resolved and the airline’s systems “are now operating normally.”

Southwest Airlines told The News that its delays were not the result of same tech outage that American experienced.

Operations at DFW and Love Field seemed to be less impacted. As of 2:05 p.m., American had delayed over 200 flights at DFW Airport, according to flight tracking site FlightAware. Southwest had only delayed 70 flights.
