Toyota has officially unveiled the 2026 Land Cruiser FJ, considered a smaller version of the renowned Land Cruiser line with its distinctive retro design.
The 2026 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ, codenamed “500D,” will be distributed globally, including in Thailand and Japan. The model is developed on the IMV0 platform with a body-on-frame construction, similar to its sibling, the Hilux Champ.
The vehicle is also classified as a PPV, similar to the Fortuner in terms of tax classification. A notable point is that the Land Cruiser FJ uses a particularly short wheelbase configuration with a length of 2,580 mm, increasing maneuverability. The body and engine compartment are designed to be shorter than the Fortuner to optimize urban driving capabilities.
In terms of dimensions, the vehicle measures 4,575 mm in length, 1,855 mm in width, and 1,960 mm in height, with a minimum turning radius of 5.5 m and a weight of approximately 2,040 kg. Compared to other Toyota SUV models, the Land Cruiser FJ is larger than the Corolla Cross but more compact than the Fortuner.
The cabin features a predominantly black color scheme, leather seats with white stitching, a 6-way power adjustable driver's seat, dual-zone automatic climate control, a digital instrument panel, and a central screen supporting wireless Apple CarPlay.
The vehicle is equipped with safety systems such as ABS, EBD, BA, VSC electronic stability control, TRC traction control, hill start assist, hill descent assist, blind spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and a 360-degree camera.
The Toyota Safety Sense package on the 2026 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ also includes features such as pre-collision warning, automatic braking, full-range adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and automatic high beams.
In Thailand, the Land Cruiser FJ is only equipped with a 2.7L 2TR-FE petrol engine; there is no diesel option. This 2,694cc inline four-cylinder engine produces 163 horsepower and 246 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed Super ECT automatic transmission and a part-time four-wheel drive system with H2, H4, and L4 modes.
Developed under the "Freedom & Joy" philosophy, the vehicle targets customers seeking a versatile body-on-frame SUV. It features a double wishbone front suspension and a four-link rear suspension with coil springs, along with a rear differential lock to enhance off-road capability. The front and rear bumpers are designed to be easily removable for off-road use.
The exterior features include LED lights, black wheel arches and side skirts, roof rails, side steps, a side-opening tailgate, and a rear-mounted spare tire. Toyota also offers a variety of personalization options such as round headlights, a snorkel, and a MOLLE cargo panel at the rear.
Previously, international media also reported that the Land Cruiser FJ would launch in Thailand with a price of around 1.1 to 1.3 million Baht (approximately 923 million to 1.1 billion VND). Sources from dealerships indicate that the Toyota Land Cruiser FJ is likely to appear in Vietnam around the middle of this year with a predicted price starting from 1.2 billion VND.
