Chery, the parent company of the Omoda & Jaecoo brands, recently held a global launch event for its new SUV, the Omoda 4, in Indonesia . This is also a strategic product that the Chinese automaker is expected to launch in the Vietnamese market early next year.
According to the manufacturer's specifications, the Omoda 4 has dimensions of 4,420 x 1,860 x 1,570 mm (length x width x height), with a wheelbase of 2,700 mm. These measurements are comparable to some SUV models such as the Mazda CX-5 (4,590 x 1,845 x 1,680 mm, 2,700 mm) and the Honda CR-V (4,691 x 1,866 x 1,681 mm, 2,701 mm).
However, when compared to SUVs like the Mitsubishi Destinator (4,680 x 1,840 x 1,780 mm, wheelbase 2,815 mm), Hyundai Tucson (4,630 x 1,865 x 1,695 mm, wheelbase 2,755 mm), and Kia Sportage (4,660 x 1,865 x 1,700 mm, wheelbase 2,755 mm), the Omoda 4 is significantly smaller in dimensions.

Therefore, in terms of size, this model could be placed in the B+ SUV category, but it has a more accessible price point.
Looking at the overall design, it's clear that the Omoda 4 boasts a modern design style with the Cyber Mecha design language. The front of the car focuses on sharp lines, with slim headlights positioned along the edge of the hood.
The Omoda 4's design is noticeably more youthful and appealing to Vietnamese users compared to its predecessor, the Omoda C5.
The Omoda 4's cabin has a futuristic feel. According to the manufacturer, the Omoda 4 will be the company's first product to integrate the smart ecosystem from ByteDance (the parent company of TikTok).
Unlike previous AI driver assistance systems, the new AI Cockpit on the Omoda 4 is expected to understand multilingual commands and update local maps to assist with navigation. The system can also adjust voice commands and names based on the owner's usage habits and needs.

In the Indonesian market, the model is currently only displayed in its all-electric version. The Omoda 4 is equipped with a 160 kW motor and a maximum torque of 275 Nm. This engine allows the car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 7.1 seconds.
Currently, the price and detailed specifications of the model produced in Vietnam have not been announced. And if possible, it is highly likely that this AI SUV will also be offered with hybrid, PHEV, or all-gasoline options to cater to the diverse needs of the Vietnamese market.
However, given Omoda & Jaecoo's traditional pricing strategy, and the fact that the Omoda 4 is manufactured at their factory in Hung Yen , consumers have reason to expect a model with a competitive price in the mid-size SUV segment.
And if sold at a sufficiently reasonable price, this will likely be Omoda & Jaecoo's new strategic product to compete for market share with domestic rivals such as BYD, Lynk & Co, Geely, and MG, with the expectation of surpassing the top-selling car group alongside Japanese representatives in the future.
