Phu Quy Island recognizes that for sustainable tourism development, environmental protection and the fight against plastic waste must be prioritized. Therefore, in recent times, Phu Quy has regularly organized beach clean-up campaigns and launched movements against plastic waste, urging tourists not to bring plastic waste to the island. This is one of the practical activities aimed at completely eliminating plastic waste on Phu Quy.
Mr. Nguyen Van Khoa, Chairman of the Lam Dong Provincial Tourism Association, said: Currently, Phu Quy Island has 12 businesses, including restaurants on the sea, tourist areas, and speedboats, that have signed a commitment to not use or to minimize the use of single-use plastic products such as plastic water bottles, plastic cups, plastic straws, and non-biodegradable plastic bags in tourism activities. Instead, they will use environmentally friendly products such as glass bottles, paper cups, ceramic mugs, paper bags, cloth bags, and reusable items. These are small steps, but they create an important foundation for the formation of a green tourism ecosystem on the island.
