Domestic pepper prices today, July 15, 2026
The domestic pepper market has turned positive after a brief decline. Purchase prices in all surveyed areas increased by 2,000 to 3,000 VND/kg, bringing the overall price level to 136,500–140,000 VND/kg.
The most significant recovery was seen in the Central Highlands. Dak Lak and the former Dak Nong area, now part of Lam Dong, both saw an increase of 3,000 VND/kg. After the adjustment, traders in these two regions were buying pepper at 140,000 VND/kg.
This was also the highest price recorded on the market on July 15th.
In the Southeast region, specifically the former Ba Ria - Vung Tau area (now part of Ho Chi Minh City), the price of pepper increased by 2,500 VND/kg, bringing it to 137,500 VND/kg.
In the newly established Dong Nai province, the purchase price in the former Dong Nai and former Binh Phuoc areas both increased by 2,000 VND/kg, reaching 137,000 VND/kg.
Gia Lai also saw an increase of 2,000 VND/kg compared to the previous session. The price of pepper in this locality is currently at 136,500 VND/kg, the lowest among the surveyed production regions.
The above developments indicate that buying pressure has returned after the decline. The fact that the highest price has re-established the 140,000 VND/kg mark shows that the pepper market is moving in the opposite direction to the weakening trend of coffee.
Vietnamese pepper maintains its export price.
On the international market, pepper prices in major producing countries have not fluctuated significantly.
According to the International Pepper Association, Vietnamese black pepper of the 500 g/l grade is currently trading at $5,850 per ton. The 550 g/l grade is $100 per ton higher, reaching $5,950 per ton.
Indonesian Lampung black pepper prices remained at $7,079/ton. Brazil quoted ASTA 570 black pepper at $5,900/ton, $50/ton higher than Vietnam's 500 g/l variety but $0/ton lower than the same 550 g/l variety.
Malaysian Kuching ASTA black pepper is priced at US$9,350 per ton. This is the highest price among black pepper varieties updated by the International Pepper Association.

US pepper imports exceed 40,000 tons.
According to information from the Import-Export Department, the US imported 40,020 tons of pepper in the first five months of 2016. The total import value reached $298.55 million.
Compared to the first five months of 2025, the volume of imported pepper increased by 10.4% and its value increased by 11.5%.
Demand increased more significantly in May 2026. The US imported 9.41 thousand tons, worth $70.3 million, an increase of 21.5% in volume and 17.9% in value compared to April.
Compared to May of the previous year, import volume increased by 16.9%, while import value increased by 16.4%.
The average price in May reached US$7,471 per ton. This figure decreased by 3% compared to April 2026 and was 0.3% lower than May 2025.
Overall, from the beginning of the year to the end of May, the average import price of pepper in the US reached $7,459 per ton, an increase of 1.1% compared to the same period last year.
Vietnam expanded its market share to 79.82%.
In terms of pepper supply to the US, Vietnam continues to far surpass its competitors.
In the first five months of 2026, the US imported 31,950 tons of pepper from Vietnam, worth $239.73 million. This represents a 36.8% increase in volume and a 35.8% increase in value compared to the same period in 2025.
With this result, Vietnam accounts for 79.82% of the total US pepper imports, a significant increase compared to 64.40% in the same period last year.
The proportion calculated by value also increased from 65.95% to 80.30%.
Vietnam's expansion is taking place against the backdrop of many other suppliers losing market share. US pepper imports from Indonesia decreased by 65.2%, from India by 23.4%, and from other markets by 27.7%.
Brazil still achieved a 14.3% increase in volume, but only accounted for 4.91% of total US pepper imports.
The average import price from Vietnam reached US$7,504 per ton, a decrease of 0.7% compared to the same period last year. Conversely, import prices from Indonesia increased by 20.3%, China by 1%, and Brazil by 0.5%.
For the remainder of 2026, pepper exports to the US will continue to have many supporting factors. However, with a market share of nearly 80%, the potential for expansion by winning more customers from competitors is no longer as large as before.
Vietnamese businesses need to shift their focus to quality, food safety, traceability, and high-value processed products. These will be crucial factors in maintaining their number one position in the US market amidst competitive pressure from Brazil and other suppliers.
