Dong Si Trinh (second from the left in the photo) is encouraged by local electricity sector leaders for handling difficult and unexpected tasks.

Staying close to the local area and doing the job thoroughly.

Born in 1993 in Duong No Ward, Hue City, Mr. Dong Si Trinh received specialized training in industrial electrical engineering before joining the local power industry. His daily work involves managing and operating the medium and low-voltage power grid in the former Phu Vang district. This is a large area with many low-lying, lagoon-side areas such as Phu Da, Phu Luong, Vinh Phu, Vinh Xuan, and the old Vinh Ha… often affected by floods. Some power lines have been in operation for many years, so checking, monitoring, and troubleshooting requires workers to be constantly on-site.

Before the rainy season, Trinh and his colleagues inspect power lines and substations, reviewing locations that pose a risk to power supply. When floods occur, trees often fall, power lines sag onto the road, or equipment malfunctions. He and his colleagues quickly arrive at the scene to handle the situation, ensuring the safety of the people and the power system.

During the floods of 2022 and 2025, there were times when the water level rose so high that travel in some areas of Phu Da and the former Phu Luong was very difficult. When the unit mobilized, Trinh and his colleagues immediately arrived at the scene. For him, it was the job of a power grid operator, where the requirement was to handle situations quickly and promptly, and to strictly adhere to safety procedures.

Not only did Trinh perform his duties well in his local area, but he also participated many times in the Hue Power Company's emergency response teams to assist in resolving power outages in other localities. In 2024, after Typhoon No. 3 (Yagi), he and a team went to Quang Ninh to assist in restoring the power grid.

Despite working in unfamiliar territory and dealing with a large workload, he and his teammates always strived to coordinate and handle each situation, contributing to restoring the power system as quickly as possible.

The legacy of the 500kV circuit 3 project.

During his nearly nine years of service, a memorable experience for Dong Si Trinh was his time assisting in the construction of the 500kV circuit 3 Quang Trach - Pho Noi power line project.

In 2024, assigned by his unit, he and his colleagues set off to carry out their mission. Unlike their daily work, this key national project demanded high deadlines, close coordination between multiple forces, and frequent outdoor work in hot weather conditions.

Upon receiving the assignment, Trinh was dedicated to his work, collaborating with colleagues to complete the assigned tasks, ensuring both timely completion and adherence to technical and safety requirements. Even on days when the work took longer than usual, he and his colleagues persevered to complete the assignment, ensuring it did not affect the overall schedule.

The days spent on the project not only left a mark on Trinh's career but also helped him accumulate more practical experience, especially in coordinating work between multiple forces on a large construction site.

Besides performing his professional duties well, Trinh also actively participates in community activities. He regularly works with the Youth Union to repair and install free electrical systems for poor and disadvantaged households in the area under his management, contributing to safer electricity usage for the people.

Mr. Nguyen Dai Phuc, Director of Hue Power Company, said that Dong Si Trinh is a skilled worker with a strong sense of responsibility and discipline. He always proactively stays on the job, readily accepts difficult and unexpected tasks, and works safely and efficiently.

In recognition of his efforts, over the years, Mr. Dong Si Trinh has been commended by Hue Power Company and other levels within the industry for his performance in carrying out his duties and participating in the construction of the 500kV circuit 3 project. In August 2026, Dong Si Trinh was one of 47 outstanding workers awarded the title of "Excellent Worker" by the Central Vietnam Power Corporation.
