Anmira Hoi An - Village of Arts and Culture recently opened an exhibition titled "Impressions of Hoi An Ancient Town" featuring works by four artists from Ho Chi Minh City, Hue, and Hanoi : Pham Thuy Tien, Mot Qua Tac, Lam Gia Huan, and Phan Anh Thu. The exhibition showcases works born from experiences, observations, and feelings about Hoi An ancient town and runs until September 30th.
Under the guidance of Anmira Hoi An, each artist has their own creative space, where their experiences, observations, and emotions about Hoi An are transformed into artistic language bearing their personal imprint.

Hoi An, with its layers of accumulated memories, is the inspiration for the poem "Hoai Pho".
Instead of recreating familiar images of the old town, the artists approach Hoi An as a constantly evolving cultural space, where architecture, crafts, people, and life together create unique layers of memory. In "Nostalgia for the Old Town," Hoi An is not just seen as a geographical location but also as a meeting point between the artist's personal experiences and the cultural values of the old town.
Young artists Pham Thuy Tien, Mot Qua Tac, Lam Gia Huan, and Phan Anh Thu share a common interest and connect with each other at a meaningful exhibition about heritage.

At the exhibition, viewers can recognize the different approaches of the four artists. Lam Gia Huan quietly "collects" the ancient heritage of the city, such as carvings on temples and assembly halls, window frame imagery, or architectural traces that have survived over time. On silk, he transforms these details into images with a contemporary visual language, where memory and identity coexist.
Meanwhile, Pham Thuy Tien approaches Hoi An using oil paints and a strong color palette. Instead of searching for familiar, nostalgic beauty, she observes local objects, landscapes, and materials, placing them in relation to the transformations of contemporary life.
With "A Kumquat," the ancient town of Hoi An emerges from the subtle vibrations of life. On silk and watercolor, she captures emotions, memories, and the connection between people and space with a clear color palette, creating moments of tranquility in her perspective on Hoi An.

Driven by her love for heritage, Phan Anh Thu chose watercolors to capture the tranquil moments of Hoi An. The subtle, blended colors tell the story of the people, the rhythm of life, and everyday encounters, where memories are preserved through intimate emotions.
“Wandering around Hoi An, I wondered if the lime-washed colors, turquoise, green, and the mossy greens of the vegetation here could represent a certain aspect of the Hoi An people's soul: the ups and downs of color, sometimes cheerful and playful like sunlight, but also persistent and resilient like moss and leaves. The blend of ancient charm with urban life and a dynamic spirit of learning and innovation to adapt has inspired us to unleash our creativity,” Pham Thuy Tien shared.
