Barcelona confirmed this information on the evening of April 23rd (Vietnam time). Yamal (18 years old) suffered a hamstring injury in his left leg during Barca's 1-0 victory over Celta Vigo on the morning of April 23rd. He scored a penalty in the 40th minute before leaving the field due to injury.
FC Barcelona added that Yamal "will undergo conservative treatment (a medical approach focusing on non-surgical or minimally invasive procedures) and is expected to be fit for the World Cup."
Yamal's absence is a major blow for Barca during this crucial stage of the season. The Catalan team is currently leading the Spanish League with 82 points, 9 points ahead of rivals Real Madrid.
Barca still have six games ahead of them, including a direct clash with Real Madrid to decide the title race.
News of Yamal's injury has put the Spanish national team on edge. Despite his young age, Yamal has become an almost indispensable pillar of the Spanish team. At the 2026 World Cup, he is predicted to lead Spain's attack towards the championship.
Spain will begin their 2026 World Cup campaign with a match against Cape Verde on June 15, before facing Saudi Arabia on June 21 and Uruguay on June 27.
