One hectare of pineapple can generate revenue of over one billion VND.
At the recent Conference on Science, Technology, Innovation and Digital Transformation to Promote Agricultural Growth in the Northern Region, Mr. Dinh Cao Khue, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association and Chairman of Dong Giao Export Food Joint Stock Company (DOVECO), stated that technology is opening up opportunities to enhance the value of each product line, especially through product diversification and the development of deep processing.
Pineapple is one example. According to Mr. Khue, the Cayenne variety is suitable for many processed products, while the MD2 variety has an advantage in the high-quality fresh fruit segment. Combining the two consumption approaches helps to better exploit the value of raw materials, while reducing dependence on a single market or consumption method.
