The Bentley Torcal is expected to be unveiled in London on September 23, 2026. While final specifications are still awaiting certification, data revealed by the company during development suggests that this SUV is built to surpass Bentley's current performance standards.
The manufacturer's benchmark is the Continental GT Speed, a plug-in hybrid model using a 4.0L V8 engine combined with an electric motor, producing 771 horsepower and 1,000 Nm of torque. It can accelerate from 0-97 km/h in 3.1 seconds. Meanwhile, the Torcal's dual-electric powertrain is revealed to have over 838 horsepower, equivalent to approximately 850 PS, along with 1,000 Nm of torque.
If the target figures remain the same for mass production, the Torcal will surpass the Continental GT Speed in power and acceleration. Bentley has not yet released official figures for the 0-97 km/h performance, but the company has confirmed that the new electric SUV will become the fastest-accelerating production Bentley in history.
Beyond just focusing on power, the Bentley Torcal maintains the brand's familiar driving philosophy. The electric motor system provides instant torque but is calibrated for smooth, controlled acceleration with minimal abruptness. This is also Bentley's approach to the concept of "effortless," meaning high performance without sacrificing the smoothness that is characteristic of the brand.
Long-range driving capability was also a key consideration in the Torcal's development. According to published information, this SUV aims for a driving range of approximately 600 km according to WLTP standards and can charge from 10% to 80% in less than 20 minutes. With a compatible 400 kW DC charger, Bentley states that just 7 minutes of charging can add approximately 160 km of range.
Inside the cabin, Bentley continues to differentiate itself by combining technology with physical controls. The Torcal features a large, curved central screen along with the Curation Engine, a controller that links multiple settings such as lighting, audio, climate control, air quality, digital interface, and driving characteristics. The car has four Bentley modes: Comfort, Sport, and Refresh; the Refresh mode is unique, focusing on fresh air and lighting to create a more relaxing and energizing feeling on long journeys.
The sound on the Bentley Torcal is also handled in a different way. Instead of creating entirely electronic imitation engine sounds, the company uses recordings of real instruments such as drums, viola, and bass guitar. The sound is adjusted according to the driver's input, thereby adding emotion to the driving experience without attempting to directly mimic the sound of an internal combustion engine.
The Torcal is therefore more than just a new model in the product lineup. It is the first all-electric Bentley designed, developed, and manufactured in Crewe, and a crucial testbed for how the British luxury brand combines electrification performance with inherent comfort. The final specifications of the SUV will be revealed when it officially launches on September 23rd.
