The England team travels seven times more than the French team.

In fact, England's travel schedule at the 2026 World Cup is the most demanding of any team in the tournament.

Prior to the semi-finals, the England team had traveled over 14,000 miles (approximately 22,530 km), seven times the distance covered by France (2,000 miles), the team with the least distance traveled in the tournament.

The England team chose to base their team in Kansas City, just like their upcoming opponent, Argentina. Their arduous journey at the World Cup began with a 4-2 victory over Croatia in Dallas.

England's first knockout match was against the Democratic Republic of Congo in Atlanta, USA. They then flew to Mexico City to face the home team at the Azteca Stadium, where the Three Lions overcame Mexico 3-2 in a hard-fought match to advance to the quarter-finals.

After coming from behind to beat Erling Haaland 's Norway 2-1 in Miami, coach Tuchel's team will now fly back to Atlanta to face Argentina in the semi-finals.

Compared to England, Lionel Messi and his teammates had a much more "comfortable" travel distance, as Argentina only traveled less than 6,000 miles before the semi-final.

Of the four "big teams" in the semi-finals, Spain is second only to England in terms of travel distance. Specifically, the reigning European champions have traveled over 12,000 miles. Meanwhile, Belgium, Spain's defeated opponent in the quarter-finals, only traveled approximately 4,000 miles throughout the tournament.

With only 2,000 miles to travel, France had the lowest total distance covered in the entire tournament, even less than some teams that were eliminated in the group stage after playing only three matches.

The fact that this World Cup is being held across three countries – with 16 host cities – and involves 48 teams means that long journeys for many teams are unavoidable.

England's incredible number of miles flown is not only the highest at this year's World Cup, but also the highest of any team since the 2010 World Cup.
