A new K-pop group backed by Jay Park is already gaining attention worldwide. But when members of rookie boy group LONGSHOT talked about their biggest inspiration, they didn’t hesitate to mention one legendary name.

BIGBANG.

In a recent interview, the group revealed that the global K-pop icons are exactly the kind of artists they hope to become someday.

“We want to be idols like BIGBANG”

LONGSHOT, a four-member boy group launched by Jay Park’s label MORE VISION, recently debuted with their mini-album SHOT CALLERS.

While the group is often described as having strong hip-hop influences because of Jay Park’s background, member Woojin made it clear that the team doesn’t want to be limited by a single label.

Instead, he explained that their biggest dream is much bigger.

“We don’t want to be called a ‘hip-hop idol.’ We just want to be idols.
Like BIGBANG sunbaenim, we want to become someone’s dream and role model.”

For many K-pop fans, BIGBANG represents a generation of idols who shaped the industry globally. Hearing the rookie group mention them immediately caught the attention of fans online.

A rookie group with Jay Park’s DNA

LONGSHOT consists of Oyul, Ryul, Woojin, and Louis, four members with very different backgrounds.

The group’s debut album features five tracks, including the title track “Moonwalkin.”

What makes LONGSHOT stand out is that all members participate in songwriting and composition, positioning them as a new generation of self-producing idols.

Already attracting global attention

Despite being rookies, LONGSHOT has quickly shown surprising global momentum.

Their debut album surpassed 100 million streams on Spotify in just 59 days, and the group currently has around 6 million monthly listeners on the platform.

The members said they were shocked by how fast international fans began recognizing them.

Woojin recalled a recent overseas schedule in Europe.

“When we performed in France and the UK, the crowd singing along was incredible. It’s a moment we’ll never forget.”

Louis added that even while walking around at night, some fans asked for photos.

“It was our first overseas performance, and the reactions were amazing.”

Jay Park’s mentorship behind the group

The members repeatedly credited Jay Park as a major reason for their early growth.

Because he has years of experience promoting internationally, they believe he understands how to position the group in the global market.

They described him as a mentor who helps them not just musically but mentally as well.

According to the group, one piece of advice from Jay Park has stayed with them the most:

“Always stay grateful and humble. But when you’re on stage, enjoy it fully.”

Their ultimate goal: one unforgettable moment

The name LONGSHOT itself reflects the group’s philosophy.

The term usually refers to a risky attempt in sports—one that might fail but could completely change the game if it succeeds.

The members say that idea perfectly represents their ambition.

They want to keep taking bold chances until they land the one moment that captures the world’s attention.

And if their inspiration from BIGBANG is any indication, LONGSHOT hopes that moment will turn them into the kind of idols future generations will look up to.
